CCHASM Expands Food Access Through Last-Mile Delivery Program, Supported by Project DASH Grant

RICHMOND, VA – (Monday, February 2, 2026) – The Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Alliance for Social Ministry (CCHASM) has expanded its food delivery efforts through the launch of its Last-Mile Delivery Program, addressing transportation and mobility barriers that prevent many residents from accessing food assistance. The program is supported by a $2,500 grant from Project DASH, a DoorDash initiative administered by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.

Project DASH powers deliveries from food banks, food pantries, and nonprofit partners nationwide, helping organizations expand access to food and essential resources. Through this partnership, CCHASM is able to strengthen and scale its delivery services, providing home delivery of groceries to qualified individuals who are unable to visit a pantry in person.

“Access to food is about more than proximity,” said Shelly Marin, CEO of CCHASM. “We’ve seen firsthand that someone can live a mile from a food pantry and still be unable to get there because they don’t have a car, can’t manage public transportation, or face mobility or health challenges. Support from DoorDash and Project DASH allows us to strengthen and expand our delivery efforts, helping us better meet the needs of our community and ensure food reaches people who would otherwise go without.”

For many households, especially seniors, individuals with disabilities, and those without reliable transportation, even short distances can present significant barriers and make regular pantry visits unrealistic or impossible. Through its partnership with Project DASH, CCHASM coordinates timely, contactless delivery of nonperishable meal bags to qualified residents who are seniors, individuals with disabilities, or lack reliable transportation, live within a 15-mile radius of CCHASM’s regional hub locations, and reside in Chesterfield, Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Hopewell, Petersburg, or Prince George. Residents can check eligibility and request support at cchasm.org/delivery.
